Want a perfect manicure without unnecessary stress? Nail technicians shared the habits of clients that annoy them. Check if you’re doing any of these — and take note so you don’t make these mistakes again!
Peeling off gel polish or other coatings
If you peel off your nail polish yourself, your nails become weaker and thinner. As a result, the gel polish doesn’t adhere as well, and your manicure won’t last as long. Don’t make this mistake — be patient and wait for your salon appointment. It’s worth it!
Coming in sick
A nail technician won’t get upset if you cancel an appointment due to illness. It’s much more unpleasant when a sick client comes to the salon, coughing or blowing their nose right next to the technician. No one wants to risk getting sick.
Using your nails as tools
Don’t peel off stickers, pick at labels, or open jars with your nails — this is very damaging! Treat them gently: your nails are a treasure, not a tool.
You forget about politeness
Always thank your manicurist and say “please” during the manicure — it makes the process more pleasant for both you and the professional. If something in the service doesn’t meet your expectations, don’t be rude or angry; politely let them know. Professionals are happy to accommodate your wishes and fix anything so that you leave satisfied.
You snack in the salon
It’s not a problem if you bring coffee to the salon. But when it comes with a pastry or snack, it becomes less appropriate. Eating requires using your hands, which can leave crumbs everywhere. Plus, the smell of food can distract other clients and create discomfort.
You bite your cuticles
Biting or picking at your cuticles is definitely not recommended — it looks very untidy. Instead, it’s better to use special cuticle scissors and carefully trim them. Trust us, this is more comfortable not only for you but also for your manicurist. Moreover, scissors are much more effective than your teeth.
You don’t communicate your wishes
It’s better to discuss the desired nail shape and whether cuticle trimming is needed with your manicurist in advance. This helps avoid misunderstandings, ensures you get exactly the result you want, and allows you to leave the salon completely happy with your manicure.
Do not use rubber gloves
Harsh cleaning products and prolonged contact with water weaken your nails, dry out your hands, and reduce the longevity of your manicure. Simply get a few regular gloves and wear them every time you do cleaning or other household chores.
